WELCOME TO WESTON FAVELL ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION
The site is owned by Northampton Town Council and is Self Managed by a team of volunteers, “The Committee”. The committee comprises 8 members and bring a variety of skills. The committee aims to foster a spirit of help and co operation, encourage new allotment gardeners, maintain the site in good order, preserve the site for allotment gardening into the future and organise social events from time to time. The site brings together many different nationalities and cultures which produce a rich varied environment.
WHAT IS THE ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION?
The Association is a community of allotment holders who pay an annual rent for a plot usually 10 or 5 poles. (A pole is the traditional measurement and equals Metric 5m x 5m). 10 poles = 50m x 5m (Imperial 55yds x 5.5yds). There are 252 plots in total.
The Committee rely on plot holders to play their part in the management of the site by looking after the infrastructure of the site including: security, roads, water butts, borders, paths and each other.
ON SITE SERVICES AND AMENITIES
Together with The Hut and our Equipment Loan Shed, there is also a summerhouse for meetings and events, a picnic seating area, composting toilet and two areas where you can help yourself to bark chips. We are currently considering setting aside a small area as a nature reserve.
