A community growing, thriving and flourishing

Welcome to Weston Favell Allotments
The site is owned by Northampton Council and is Self Managed by a team of volunteers, “The Committee”. The committee comprises 8 members who bring together a variety of skills.
The committee aims to foster a spirit of help and co operation, encourage new allotment gardeners, maintain the site in good order, preserve the site for allotment gardening into the future and organise social events for time to time.

GARDEN ORGANIC AND THE HERITAGE SEED LIBRARY
Garden Organic through campaigning, advice, community work and research, aim to get everyone growing ‘the organic way’. They want to inspire individuals, communities and the next generation to use innovative organic practices.
Underpinning this is their mission to grow a movement that takes practical action to conserve seeds, nurture soil and wildlife, and reduce waste.
The Heritage Seed Library maintains the national collection of heritage and heirloom vegetables and aims to conserve vegetable varieties that are not widely available, sharing seed with our members to grow and enjoy. The seed library holds over 800 varieties of seeds, including rare landrace varieties adapted to specific growing conditions, heirloom varieties saved over generations and varieties no longer available to buy.
Home growers, schools, communities, organisations and public gardens can support the work of the Heritage Seed Library by becoming a seed guardian and growing seed for them, safeguarding rare varieties and sharing seed with members.
You can also support them by becoming a Garden Organic HSL member and get free seed every year! You can also organise membership for a friend or family member , which makes a wonderful Christmas present!
The Heritage Seed Library has recently launched ‘Sowing your seeds – heritage crops for a resilient future’, funded by the national lottery heritage fund. This two-year project focuses on finding, conserving and sharing seeds of unusual, under-represented and heritage vegetable varieties being grown across the Midlands. So, if you, or someone you know, is growing a vegetable variety that grows well, tastes great and is not easily available in the shops please do get in touch! Complete a short form about your variety by following the QR code below or find more information here: www.gardenorganic.org.uk/seed-search
